2017 August 26

Hello all, today is
August 26,2017. It has been a long time since I have written a post on the Montgomery blog. Gracie is now 10 years old and just started 5th grade. She is in Ms. Aldretes' class. Gracie enjoys drawing so much. She took a drawing class this summer. Over the summer we swam, went to Indianapolis, Indiana and visited Prairie Village, Ks to see my mom,  Carol, brother, Stuart and my nephew Jesse. Jesse plays the trombone and is driving now all over the place. Gracie loves spending time with Grandma Carol and Jesse.

Joe works for the veterinary medicine at Kansas State University.  We went to Indianapolis, Indiana for a conference for his work.  We went to the St. Louis Arch, Indianapolis race track and went to the sand dunes in Indiana.  These are right off Lake Michigan.  I was amazed at what people brought to the beach (umbrellas, coolers, boom boxes, chairs and wagons to put everything in). Next time we are going to be more prepared.  LOL.

My brother, Jimmy visited Kansas to celebrate my mom's birthday last year.  He lives in Australia and with his wife Helen and three children (Josie, Catriona and Seamus). Jimmy went to his Shawnee Mission East High School reunion.  1983. It was fun and we had my Aunt Kay and Uncle Bruce, Marti, Bill and Katie Beth, Hannah (was at college)  Suzanne, Jay, Mia and Vaughan. Allen, Joy, Tim and Josh were in California.  Jimmy hadn't met Gracie so were thrilled they had a chance to meet.

We have just celebrated the Thanksgiving holiday. This year, Joe's brother, Tom stayed with us during the week of Thanksgiving. Joe got to spend time with his brother and we went to Abilene to see Joe's mom Polly too. On Thanksgiving, we went to Kansas City to see my mom, Carol and had Thanksgiving dinner. Gracie enjoyed seeing everyone and had fun playing with Jesse.

Today, we put up the Christmas tree. Gracie loved all the Barbie and NFL football ornaments. She also enjoyed playing with the nativity and baby Jesus.

A lot has happened in the last three weeks. I was going to the mailbox and slipped and fell on some mud. I twisted my leg and broke it in two or more places. My Femur and Tibia. This will take six weeks to heal and I am now using a brace that I can bend my leg.

In the meantime, Joe was thrown from my bike when he was going to put air in the tire. When he was coming back, the tire blew and threw him from the bike. He fractured his elbow in two places. Radial head fracture and coronoid fracture. He is now wearing a sling and is suppose to exercise his arm.

My next appointment is July 28Th. Gracie has been very good throughout of our accidents. We also have been getting dinners from Joe's work on Tuesday and Thursdays. That is very kind. Joe is back at work now but still helping getting around in the morning.

I noticed that the last blog was of Sept. last year, so thought it would be great to updated the blog. We are enjoying the warmer months. Gracie celebrated her third birthday on March 6th. We had a birthday party for her at the house with 24 people attending. Grandma Carol was here and got Gracie a princess cake. She still plays with the cake toppers of Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Belle. Gracie still enjoys Mickey Mouse but really enjoys Max and Ruby, Wubzy and Little Bear. These are on Nick Jr. Gracie also enjoys going to the library and picking out books and going to storytime. On Thursdays, she has a playdate at the church and enjoys seeing her friends. Recently we attended the KSU Open House, KSU Spring Game, The Tulip Festival and went to a KSU Baseball game.

We had a wonderful Labor Day weekend on September 6th, going to Carthage, MO. After K-State won their home opener game, we woke up the next morning and went to my Aunt Kay and Uncle Bruce's house. My cousin Allen, a navy chaplian is moving with his family to Japan the end of September for three years. Joy, his wife and two children Timmy and Joshua are ready for the trip. There at my aunts house were Aunt Kay, Uncle Bruce, me, Joe, Gracie Carol, Marti, Bill, Katie Beth, Hannah, Suzanne, Jay, Mia, Vaughan, Allen, Joy, Timmy, Joshua, Joy's brother and sister-in-law Grace. We had a fun time visiting with everyone and spending the day taking pictures. Jimmy and his family were missed because they are in Australia. But we thought of them too!

When we were leaving Carthage, MO, we did stop at the "Precious Moments Chapel". Gracie had the best time running around and seeing the pictures at the chapel. She loved the statues and all the angels. Then we went to Mineral, KS to see "Big Brutus". The largest shovel. It was huge and we went up inside to the operators deck. Brutus is a must see!!

Gracie Carol is growing every day. She is a smart little girl and likes to use her imagination with her stuffed animals and pretend that they are in tents. She is now 30 mos. old. We love her and love spending time as a family together.

We are enjoying our life with Gracie Carol. She is now two years old and entertain us every day. She loves watching videos of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Dragon Tales, Arthur, Wiggles and Winnie the Pooh. She is talking in sentences and verbalizing what she wants to do and watch. When we get in the car to go for a ride, she also requests songs. Her favorite are Wiggles and Dierks Bentley "Free and Easy". She knows the words. Joe also plays his guitar for Gracie and she makes up songs and sings along. Recently, there was a video of a Cockatoo dancing to James Brown and Gracie knew it was a Cockatoo from her Australian books and laughed so much to this video. Take care all and we'll keep you posted on more mommy and daddy events. I love being a stay at home mom. Every minute is so precious with baby girl Gracie. :)
